de meisjes uit de diamantstraat zijn vaak gemeen
het zijn vreemde meisjes soms zie je ze dagelijks
soms zie je er geen of ze weten even niet wie je bent
maar ik houd van de meisjes en vind dat niet erg

de meisjes uit de diamantstraat zijn mooi
ze hebben allemaal dezelfde naam
een naam die je graag uitspreekt
een weldadige naam zou je kunnen zeggen

de meisjes uit de diamantstraat zijn rare meisjes
soms kom ik thuis en ligt er een in mijn bed
het zijn prima kacheltjes de meisjes uit de diamantstraat
maar halverwege de nacht zijn ze meestal alweer weg
je kunt niet echt van ze op aan ze zijn trouweloos

de meisjes uit de diamantstraat zijn ingewikkelde meisjes
ik begrijp niet zoveel van ze je kunt ze ook niet begrijpen
want ze hebben steeds een ander gezicht
je zou bijna gaan denken dat er heel veel meisjes
in de diamantstraat wonen maar dat is niet waar
